Host House began as a curated home retail shop in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and has evolved into a full-service showroom and design studio, offering a thoughtful, holistic approach to interiors.
Our work blends refined aesthetics with warmth and comfort, creating homes that feel quietly confident rather than overly styled. We believe beautiful spaces should also be deeply livable — supporting everyday routines, meaningful gatherings, and the moments in-between.
Clients are invited to experience furnishings, finishes, and everyday essentials in person through our showroom, allowing design decisions to feel clear and grounded. From foundational furniture to kitchenware, barware, tabletop, bed linens, and bath towels, we approach each home as a complete environment.

We guide each project through an intentional planning process:
Initial Consultation: we begin in our showroom or on the phone, learning about your home, lifestyle, and goals while exploring furnishings and finishes together.
Design + Sourcing: furniture, materials, and home essentials are thoughtfully curated, layering texture and tone to create cohesive interiors.
Coordination + Installation: we manage orders, deliveries, and installation so everything comes together seamlessly.
Final Styling + Stocking: we complete the home with styling and optional stocking, ensuring every space feels finished and welcoming.

Owner and Lead Designer
Robin Olson founded Host House out of a love for creating spaces that feel welcoming, layered, and easy to live in. Her 25 year background spans event planning, design and production, retail brand marketing, and interior design. Working overseas, in various corporate environments, and in clients homes taught Robin how powerful thoughtful environments can be - whether for business, everyday life or meaningful gatherings.
After years of working across global cities, Robin moved to Carmel, California in 2013, where she now draws daily inspiration from natural light, organic textures, and relaxed coastal living. Her approach is refined yet comfortable, focused on designing homes that feel quietly confident rather than overly styled.
Through Host House, Robin help clients furnish and prepare their homes holistically - from foundational furniture to everyday essentials - guiding each project with care so the process feels calm and supported. Her goal is always the same: to create spaces that support how people truly live - from gathering and entertaining to rest and everyday moments.
